FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) — An initial appearance is held for D’Angelo Hunt in Grand Forks where he was appointed an attorney.

Hunt faces federal charges of second degree murder for the death of his brother, 28-year-old Isaac Hunt in 2024 on Spirit Lake Reservation.

Isaac went missing in March of that year and his remains were finally located during a search over the weekend near their father’s home.

The family doesn’t want D’Angelo portrayed as a bad person.

They say he has had significant mental health struggles and they were not aware he was considered a suspect until the announcement Monday by the FBI.

Hunt was ordered held until a detention hearing set for November 24 in Grand Forks.
