FARGO (KVRR) – Fargo-based Aldevron is laying off 7 percent of the company’s workforce.

Ellen Shafer, Senior Director of Communications, tells KVRR Local News that most of the layoffs will affect employees at the company’s headquarters.

“Aldevron is making thoughtful adjustments to align with our strategic priorities and strengthen our ability to serve the evolving needs of the biotech industry. As part of this effort, we will be reducing our overall workforce by 7%, with most of the impact occurring at our Fargo, ND campuses,” Shafer said.

“This decision was extremely difficult, but it reflects our commitment to positioning Aldevron for sustainable growth and innovation in a rapidly changing market. We remain focused on supporting affected employees during this transition and continuing to deliver exceptional quality and service to our clients and the patients who depend on them.”

In 2019, Aldevron built a 14-acre expansion after the Fargo City Commission granted a tax break that saved the company an estimated $5 million over 10 years.

Aldevron specializes in producing biological materials for the life sciences industry.

The company has locations in Fargo and in Madison, Wisconsin.
