Detached garage destroyed by fire started by wood stove in rural Vergas, MN

VERGAS, Minn. (KVRR) — A double barrel wood stove is to blame for a fire that destroyed a detached garage in rural Vergas, Minnesota.

Otter Tail County deputies and Pelican Rapids and Vergas Fire Departments arrived around 10:45 a.m. Saturday to find a fully engulfed garage.

The fire was extinguished and the detached garage was a total loss.

No injuries were reported.

It is unknown at this time how the fire escaped the stove and ignited the garage.
