Busking to Beat High Ticket Prices

FARGO — A lot of us are frustrated at the high cost of ticket prices for things like pro ball games and concerts.

One Fargo-based performer’s found a way to beat the system — and now, he’s getting his very own show.

Brandon Thompson goes by “BNickle,” and goes around the country busking for tickets.

So far he’s scored tickets to Vikings games, a Seattle Kraken game, a Red Hot Chili Peppers concert in Vegas, and hundreds more.

He performs his original songs on the guitar and ukelele outside venues as attendees are arriving.

He’s had a lot of memorable experiences — everything from the nosebleed suites to corporate suites — but says it’s become about much more than just free tickets.

After awhile, he says, his favorite part of the experience became sitting down with the ticket holders themselves, getting to know them and their families, and hearing their stories about what brings them out to the show.

Thompson is putting on his own show next month at the Aquarium in downtown.

It will feature a variety of musical guests, plus Thompson performing his original compositions, as well as interactive audience games.

Thompson joined the Morning Show with a song he wrote especially for meteorologist Dylan Haar, and to lead Dylan, Alex and Emily in one of the games you’ll play at his show.
