Seeking “Mr. Sparta”

FARGO — After two decades out of the high school stage spotlight, Fargo North High is welcoming back a tradition this weekend that puts boys on the pageant stage.

It’s a fundraiser and “reverse pageant” called the “Mr. Sparta” competition.

Candidates compete in runway, talent, and question-and-answer categories.

The contests are leaders from a variety of extracurricular activities at North, including football, music, and soccer.

Half of the profits from ticket sales go to a charity of their choice.

Some of the contests taking the stage this weekend at North High, plus the student emcee, joined the Morning Show to talk about why “pageants” like these shine a light on what the students do, rather than on how they look.
