Former Grand Forks middle school staffer accused of sex crimes in federal court

GRAND FORKS, N.D. (KVRR/KFGO)–  A former staff member at Valley Middle School in Grand Forks is now facing federal charges related to a child sexual exploitation case.

31-year-old Malaun Nelson is charged with seven counts including four counts of attempted sexual exploitation of a child.

He is also accused of the transfer of obscene materials to minors under 16.

Nelson was a classroom specialist and was arrested in December after allegations surfaced that he was soliciting pictures from students.

State charges have been dismissed and Nelson remains jailed.
