Former Grand Forks middle school staffer accused of sex crimes in federal court

GRAND FORKS, N.D. (KVRR/KFGO)– A former staff member at Valley Middle School in Grand Forks is now facing federal charges related to a child sexual exploitation case.
31-year-old Malaun Nelson is charged with seven counts including four counts of attempted sexual exploitation of a child.
He is also accused of the transfer of obscene materials to minors under 16.
Nelson was a classroom specialist and was arrested in December after allegations surfaced that he was soliciting pictures from students.
State charges have been dismissed and Nelson remains jailed.
