Horace school parking lot shooting suspect sold crack cocaine & counterfeit cash

FARGO (KVRR) – The man arrested in connection with a shooting in the parking lot of Heritage Middle School in Horace on Monday was once caught selling crack cocaine and counterfeit cash to undercover federal agents in Philadelphia.

Forty-year-old Garmonyou Wiles of Fargo has been charged in Cass County District Court with attempted murder, reckless endangerment, terrorizing, aggravated assault and discharge of a firearm within a city.

Wiles was an employee of a company involved in a construction project at the school. Authorities say he shot a co-worker in a dispute.

No students or school employees were injured or connected to the shooting.

According to U.S. District Court documents in Pennsylvania, Wiles pleaded guilty to 11 drug and counterfeit-related charges in 2017.

In 2016, Wiles sold crack cocaine to two people during a controlled purchase that was supervised by law enforcement. A Secret Service affidavit says in 2017, Wiles and another man sold an officer $10,000 in counterfeit cash in exchange for $2,000 in genuine currency.

Wiles was sentenced to 40 months in federal prison. He was released in February, 2020.

This is a developing story. We will have more details during KVRR Local News at 6pm and 9pm.
