Cleanup Week Do’s and Don’ts
The City of Fargo wants to make sure as many people who are participating in Cleanup Week are aware of its rules as possible.
FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) – Cleanup Week, the time-honored Fargo tradition, officially starts on May 4, but many in the metro appear to have gotten a headstart on leaving things at the curb.
That is exactly what the city’s sanitation department doesn’t want.
“It’s difficult enough to pick up a mattress, let alone a wet mattress. So just put this stuff out the night before your collection day,” said Jen Pickett, Fargo’s recycling manager.
With that reminder to not place objects outside until it’s your collection time, all the rules regarding that stuff from last year remain in place – no more than two appliances, no more than four tires, no wood or concrete, and no electronics.
Sanitation workers are also urging participants to place their unwanted items in distinct, separate piles, to make the operation run smoother for everyone.
“There’s different crews that are picking up different kinds of items. There’s a different truck that grabs the logs and brush. A different truck grabs tires,” explained Pickett.
Cleanup Week follows normal city recycling schedules.
