Extra seatbelt enforcement expected in May

FARGO (KVRR/KFGO) – North Dakota Law enforcement agencies will have increased patrols throughout the month of May as part of the Click It or Ticket campaign. During the enforcement period, officers will be watching for drivers and passengers not wearing a seatbelt.
The North Dakota Department of Transportation says wearing your seat belt is the most effective way to protect yourself in a crash and reduces the risk of fatal injury by nearly half.
“We see firsthand the vital difference a seat belt can make,” said Cass County Sheriff Jesse Jahner. “Taking that extra step to buckle up helps protect you and your loved ones.”
In support of the campaign, participating coffee shops across the state will host Click-It for Coffee events. These events give drivers a chance to receive an incentive when they wear their seat belt through the drive-thru, offering a positive and engaging way to reinforce this life-saving habit.
