Update: Police say Bluemont Lakes search is not tied to Wengel investigation

FARGO (KVRR) – Divers from Valley Water Rescue were searching two canals in the Bluemont Lakes neighborhood Sunday.

Fargo Public Information Manager Archie Ingersoll says the search is “related to an ongoing investigation,” but it is not connected to the Isadora Wengel murder case.

Wengel was last seen by her father on New Year’s Eve near the 900 block of 3 1/2 Avenue East in West Fargo. 21-year-old Joshua Hite has been charged with Wengel’s death.

“The search is focused on recovering evidence that may have been discarded in the water,” according to Ingersoll.

An email sent to residents says divers were planning to conduct the search in two canals along 27th St. S. and in an area near the 28th Ave. S. bridge. The search was scheduled to continue until late afternoon.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
