UPDATE: MOORHEAD, Minn. (KVRR) — Firefighters are on the scene of a house fire in south Moorhead Thursday morning.

The fire at 2415 13th St. S. was reported by people working on the home at around 11:15 a.m.

According to the Moorhead Fire Department, HVAC contractors were working in the attic at the time the fire started. Both were able to escape with minor injuries and alerted the homeowner, who immediately exited the residence and called 911.

Crews had to cut into the roof in order to completely extinguish the fire.

Firefighters could also be seen throwing drywall out of a window as they worked to reach the fire.

Moorhead Fire says there is significant damage to the roof and two rooms inside the home.

“A company was on scene, doing some work, and they observed an attic fire, and called for the fire department to come out,” said Moorhead Battalion Chief Matt Brand. “When we arrived on scene, there was fire that had moved through the attic and was moving to different places in the structure.”

A damage estimate is not available at this time. The fire is currently under investigation.
