FirstLink’s annual breakfast focuses on mental health in the workplace

FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) — First responders and community members came together to focus on workplace wellness at the annual FirstLink breakfast.
This year’s theme, “Upstream Connection: Keeping Communities Connected – Before the Call,” focused on wellness and the importance of early connection through services like 988 and 211.
The invited keynote speaker focused on helping people in the workplace with their emotions by connecting with their peers.
About 50,000 people in the United States die by suicide every year, with an overwhelming amount made up of working-age adults.
“Make work a place where it’s okay to talk about these things. Where people feel safe saying, I’m not okay today. Or I need help, or can you just spend some time listening to me? So both things are important. Knowing what to look for, but also creating a culture at work where it’s psychologically safe,” said Sally Spencer-Thomas, Psychologist and Keynote Speaker.
If you need help, contact 988 at any time.
