Bringing live music back to the movies

FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) – It’s a chance to step into the past at one of Fargo’s most historic sites, with one of Hollywood’s most legendary comedians.

The theatre has a special showing of Buster Keaton’s “The General” coming up Tuesday, and to help bring you back to the silent movie days the Red River Theatre Organ Society will be performing the accompaniment live.

Live organ accompaniment was a staple of the early movie going experience, and the Organ Society says it’s so important to them to be able to keep this tradition alive.

“It’s very enthralling to the senses, I like to say. We always joke and say it was the original surround sound. And although you can’t see anything that’s going on behind there, it’s certainly very imaginative with the sound that it produces.”

The show kicks off at 6 P.M. with a prelude on the pipe organ tickets are $7. You can find a link HERE.
