DILWORTH, Minn. (KVRR) — The city of Dilworth held a groundbreaking ceremony to celebrate the start of construction for a new community center.

It will be located at 333 16th Street Northeast.

The facility will be used as a gathering space for people of all ages and city leaders hope it will be a cornerstone for events and community connection.

They say the project has been years in the making, and that a recently-passed sales tax will help pay for the facility.

“The funding of the project is a combination of local option sales tax, and then city revenues,” said Dilworth Mayor Chad Olson. “So we’re fortunate to be able to get the local option sales tax passed, which is going to generate a significant portion of the cost of this project.”

The land for the new community center was donated to the city.
