FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) – The downtown branch of the Fargo YMCA threw open its doors to the entire public this Saturday to mark a key milestone for the facility.

On May 16, the Roger & Betty Anda Aquatics Center was available for everyone to enjoy, all day – even those without a Y membership.

The center, which features three distinct pools, each for differing skill levels and purposes, has played a big role in expanding the Y’s programming and what it can offer to the community.

YMCA staff says they’re incredibly grateful they received such a great gift a decade ago.

“We have everything from learn to swim to senior aerobics – plus you can just keep healthy with exercise. Not only can you lose weight and gain muscle, but you can build friendships and gain connections in the community as well,” said Aaron Fabel, Vice President of Member and Program Services.

“We’re super proud of the facility and we’re grateful for the donors that have helped make it possible,” he added.

The facility technically opened in April of 2016 – but Y leadership says they pushed the celebration back to May so that it could coincide with National Water Safety Month.
