FARGO (KVRR) — After a couple dominant seasons with the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks, Wadena native Jake Dykhoff is headed to affiliated baseball.

The RedHawks announced Sunday that Dykhoff’s contract has been transferred to the Baltimore Orioles organization, marking another milestone for one of the top pitchers in franchise history.

Dykhoff leaves Fargo-Moorhead after a historic 2025 campaign in which he earned American Association Pitcher of the Year honors while helping anchor the league’s top pitching staff. His 1.63 ERA not only led the American Association by more than a full run, but also set a new RedHawks single-season record, surpassing Casey Horrelbeke’s 1.84 mark set in 2010.

The former Minnesota Crookston Golden Eagle also became the only qualified RedHawks pitcher to post an ERA under 2.00 since the club joined the American Association in 2011.

Last season, Dykhoff went 11-4 with 81 strikeouts across 27 appearances, including 10 starts. His performance earned him a spot on the league’s Postseason All-Star Team as the American Association’s top starting pitcher.

RedHawks manager Chris Coste said Dykhoff’s signing is emotional for the organization, especially after watching his journey over the past several years.

“When you lose the guy who was pitcher of the year last year, it’s going to affect you, but at the same time, this league’s about opportunity, and yeah, we play to win,” Coste said. “Every game we play to win, but players play in our league to get to some different higher level. When you see a guy like Jake who’s been with us for four seasons — much like me when I was younger — I played four seasons and then eventually got signed. He’s about the same age as I was, so it’s an amazing thing.”

Coste added that Dykhoff’s signing is meaningful not only for the RedHawks clubhouse, but for players throughout the American Association.

“A lot of us shed tears because I’ve known Jake since he was 14 and his family and things like that,” Coste said. “When you see that, it’s a huge moment. Motivation and encouragement for not just our team, especially our own players, but even your opponents see it. And when guys get signed out of our league, every player in our league knows it, they see it, and it gives everybody hope.”

Dykhoff made one appearance for the RedHawks during the 2026 season before his contract transfer. On May 16 against the Cleburne Railroaders, he struck out 11 batters over six innings.

Since making his debut with Fargo-Moorhead in 2023, Dykhoff compiled a 21-11 record with a 2.97 ERA over 84 appearances, including 25 starts. He totaled 212 strikeouts in 227.1 innings pitched.

Dykhoff becomes the 15th RedHawks player since 2020 to have his contract transferred to an MLB organization and the 94th in franchise history.
