Summer heat this Memorial Day has everyone finding ways to keep cool

FARGO — Those attending Memorial Day services, and those still out enjoying their vacation, got to experience the first summer-like day in the metro.
Some attending Memorial Day services at Riverside Cemetery found spots in the shade, while others braved the sun while honoring lost veterans.
The ceremony at Riverside was held before noon, so many were able to avoid the hottest part of the day.
Later in the afternoon, Some people in West Fargo found fun ways to beat the heat, like visiting the local splash park.
One Fargo resident that we spoke to was thankful there was a place close by where the kids could beat the heat.
“We really appreciate having a splashpad. (O)bviously lots of kids here. Family’s having a good time,” said Fargo resident Joey Haynes. ” With the holiday weekend, sometimes it’s hard to find stuff to do, so this is easy.”
KVRR Chief Meteorologist Max Mueller says the summer-like temperatures will be with us for a few days.
In Fargo, the Island Park Pool is scheduled to open June 1. All other pools will open on June 8.
