NDSU welcomes 16th President to campus

FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) – It’s the start of a new era at NDSU today, as they welcome their 16th president to campus.

New President Marshall Stewart spent the start of his first day on the job familiarizing himself with the NDSU campus and community.

With NDSU Football transitioning to the FBS level next, questions have been raised about the increased funding that will be needed next season.

Stewart said that while the move offers great opportunity, it will take a community-wide effort to reap the benefits.

“Institutionally we’re going to have to be supportive. What that looks like? How much that is? We’re going to have to figure that out. Obviously a few hours on the job, I’m not ready to answer that. But we’re going to have to do more, we are. Also our donors, our philanthropists, all those folks are going to have to work with us together. It’s going to be a team effort.”

Stewart added that he’s also committed to maintaining and growing enrollment across NDSU’s programs, and ensuring that excellence is maintained in the classroom as well.
