United Way Cass Clay kicks off School Supply Drive

WEST FARGO — As kids get into summer vacation, United Way is making sure they are prepared to return to school this fall.
They have kicked off the annual school supply drive.
United Way collects backpacks, pencils, notebooks and other school supplies and distributes them to students in need.
They are asking the community to help reach this year’s goal of getting school supplies to seven thousand students.
Principals from West Fargo are stressing just how much the supply drive helps kids in their schools.
“It’s super important that when those learners show up on day one that they need to be prepared,” said Little Park Elementary Principal Ethan Ehlert. “And if we can do something as small as providing them with a backpack, giving them crayons, pencils, they know. They know if they are not prepared. We can’t necessarily see it, but we can definitely feel it. And anything we can do to help them focus on learning, first and foremost, is what we want.”
Those interested in donating to the drive can visit United Way’s online wish list to purchase supplies.
