FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) — Seven months after city commissioners voted on a new site for an engagement center, the public is allowed inside for tours.

A ribbon-cutting was held at the Resource and Recovery Center at 2001 1st Avenue North in Fargo.

Downtown Engagement Center will slowly transition into the space over time, with shuttles to be offered as soon as next week.

The center is said to create faster pathways to housing, mental health treatment, and achieving clients’ personal goals.

“Next week, we can essentially get guests over here. We will have a shuttle, we’ll provide rides so they can get over here and check it out. They need to see it so they can decide whether or not it is the place they want to come. Most of them have seen it and are very happy about it. We’ll still be moving out of that building for some time,” said Jan Eliassen, Director of Harm Reduction and Division for Fargo Cass Public Health.

The site brings together state, county, city, and nonprofit organizations all under one roof.
