“End of an Era” School Carnival Sends Horace Mann off in Style
The event was intended to make the families of students more comfortable with each other and serve as part of a goodbye to the beloved structure.
FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) – Before the book finally closes on a long chapter in Fargo educational history on June 4th, Horace Mann faculty and the Madison PTA teamed up to host the “End of an Era” school carnival on the afternoon of May 30th.
“We’re so excited, there’s families from all three schools, it’s been busy all day, there’s 410 people today in and out so far,” said Leandra Ostrom, principal of Horace Mann.
There both indoor and outdoor activities, concessions for sale, and hourly prize drawings to keep the children occupied; but staff said the greatest gift of the event was the closeness fostered between the students’ families.
They’re steeling themselves for the last week they’ll spend in the 111-year-old structure and considered the Carnival as pretty much the perfect, joyous farewell for a place they’ve loved so dearly.
“You want to send things off on a really high, great note, and having all the families and the students today – it’s just been a wonderful way to kind of give it the exclamation point,” said Ostrom.
Horace Mann also has a field day scheduled for Monday, June 1, promising more outdoor fun on campus grounds.
