Rain Leaves Portion of Wahpeton High Under Water
The down pour of rain has left officials at Wahpeton High School doing some damage control.
They say rain water poured into parts of the school leaving some areas under water.
Superintendent Rick Jacobson says he got the call just after five this morning after a leak set off the schools alarm system.
He says after arriving at the school they found a disconnected drain pipe left one of their common areas under at least a half of inch of water.
Jacobson says the water was only limited to the commons area, and one nearby classroom, he says it was just a small inconvenience for students and staff.
“By eight o’clock, kids had access to all the rooms in that area except for the one health room that we had to put back together, but the water was out of it, and we contained it to that area,” said Superintendent Rick Jacobson of Wahpeton Public Schools.
Jacobson says a scrubber was used to suck up the excess water and that there were no reports of any damage.
Wahpeton High is currently in the process of fixing the drain pipe, and that the leak didn’t result in any lost classroom time.
