Two outspoken supporters of UND’s former “Fighting Sioux” nickname have turned to social media to expose what they say is the real truth behind the nickname’s demise.
David and Eunice Davidson of Devils Lake believe tribal members and North Dakotans were “duped” when the state settled a lawsuit with the NCAA.
It sued to retire the nickname because it was considered “hostile and abusive.”
The Davidson’s believe there’s evidence in sealed court documents that tribal members were set-up to take the blame.
Eunice Davidson says: “Their voices have been silenced. Join us in this campaign to learn the truth behind what really happened.”
David Davidson: “Our remaining goal is to inform you of the inconsistencies and lies that were told to the people of North Dakota in an effort to remove the Fighting Sioux image.”
The Davidson’s also claim that North Dakota tribal members want to preserve the “Fighting Sioux” nickname by “overwhelming majority.”
