A new rec center is headed to West Fargo.

The 44,000 square-foot, $7.8 million dollar center will house indoor activities such as basketball, volleyball and batting cages.

There will also be outdoor amenities including bocce ball courts and a patio space.

Residents will not see any tax increases or special assessments to pay for the building.

The money will come from allocated recreation and general funds.

Barb Erbstoesser, Park District Executive Director: “This gives us the ability to be able to hold more programs and activities for the park district and the city of West Fargo. And we think it’s going to be a really great addition not only with the 44,000 square-foot building but we’ve got a whole ten acre park area that we’re developing around it as well.”

The Park District plans for the rec center to open sometime next summer.
