Bismarck Man Sentenced in Fargo Walmart Parking Lot Shooting

A Bismarck man who was shot by a Fargo Police officer last September is sentenced to four years in prison.

CarmenĀ  Redshirt was driving a stolen car when he pulled a gun on Officer Patrick Thomas in the Walmart parking lot on 13th Avenue South.

It turned out to be a BB gun with a laser that looked like a more powerful weapon.

Thomas shot Redshirt in the abdomen after he refused to drop the weapon and he was hospitalized for several days.

The Cass County State’s Attorney later ruled that Officer Thomas was justified in shooting Redshirt.
