Protests against the Dakota Access Pipeline Project have involved violence and vandalism. That vandalism has reached Washington D.C. and the National World War II Memorial on the Mall.
Someone has spray-painted in black, the message #NoDAPL, on the wreathed, solid granite pillar representing the state of North Dakota. There 56 such pillars surrounding the entire memorial, representing each state and U.S. Territory in 1945.
A spokesperson for the National Park Service, the Federal agency which oversee’s the monument, was not immediately available to provide more information on the anti-DAPL vandalism.
