Bison Village Compromise Doesn’t Please All

A compromise reached in the Bison Village Development didn’t satisfy all neighbors in the area.

North Fargo neighbors and Roers developers have been meeting since February over a proposed large apartment complex on the former Ponyland property.

Roers Developers and a few concerned people who live in the area finally came to an agreement allowing for up to 26 single family homes and a smaller apartment complex.

But there were still a few upset neighbors, who say they weren’t made aware of the meetings.

The task force says they tried their best to keep all neighbors informed and sent e-mails to everyone within a certain distance of the project.

“I believe 90% of the people were on the e-mail list and were being actively involved. We had buy in from the majority of people that yes this is the best of a bad situation for how most of us were looking at this. We knew it was going to be developed, it wasn’t all going to be family housing,” says McKinley neighborhood resident, Thomas Lawrence.

A few neighbors also feel the compromise didn’t go far enough, close to 300 apartment units will still be on the property, and most of that will be for students.

Neighbors who helped form the compromise say it’s possible if they pushed further, the developers could have flat out refused it.

While there were a few upset neighbors, many at the meeting praised the grass roots task force for getting something done.
