Improved Facilities for Fargo Parks
Summer is the prime time to go outside for some fun.
And new attractions from the Fargo Park District can make the parks just the place to be.
From basketball to tennis, people from all over the F–M area head to the parks for some old fashioned recreation.
And there are some new sports for people to try out.
Pickleball is a new attraction to Brunsdale Park.
It’s a sport that combines tennis, badminton, and ping–pong played on an outside or an indoor court with a paddle and a plastic ball.
“We’ve got six courts and we’re just about ready to open them up and we just completed construction over there. Those should be ready in about a week or so and obviously pickle ball is a really large and expanding activity with the seniors in our community,” explained Clay Whittlesey, Director of Recreation with the Fargo Park District.
Improvements in the Fargo Park System like here at Island Park include this new handball court, where you can bounce the ball off the walls.
And improving facilities keeps kids, like Peder Haugo of Fargo, coming back to the parks for a good time.
“They got a new playground a couple of years ago and they just redid the basketball court. I really like that.”
And the park district has new things in the works for more Fargo residents to become active.
“A multipurpose facility in Fargo which would be a large athletic complex and/or multipurpose facility that could include lacrosse, soccer, maybe hockey as well,” said Whittlesey.
All the new facilities are making people on both sides of the river want to go outside and play ball.
The Fargo Park District has over 50 recreation facilities within the city limits. For more updates on the park improvements, click here.
