Celebrating Their Patron Saint: Group Home Honors St. Anne
A Catholic assisted living home in Grand Forks is honoring its patron saint.
Tuesday is St. Anne’s Day, and the St. Anne’s Guest Home is celebrating for the whole week.
St. Anne is the mother of the Virgin Mary and the grandmother of Jesus.
Not much is known about her, but sisters at the home say she cared for her family, something they try to emulate with their residents.
They’re offering a variety of activities to celebrate the week, from dances to dress-up days to a cake walk.
“It’s just kind of fun,” explains Sister Christina Neumann. “Things kind of get humdrum. We have the same old thing every day, every week, and it’s just kind of a way to say we want to honor our patron saint and we want to have some fun together and build community together. “
St. Anne’s houses about 70 people, and has been helping people in Grand Forks for more than 60 years.
