Young Local Filmmakers to Debut Movie Trailer

The trailer for the movie “Collective”, a cross genera short film made by a group of local high school students, is being released tomorrow.

An average suburban home to some, or maybe the setting for a horror, comedy, musical.

Making a movie takes a lot of time, effort and coordination.

For most adults it’s too scary to undertake, but these teens say they are up to the challenge.

“Well I was really into movies and dancing and horror and comedy and I really just wanted to see how I could blend everything together and make it into a channel that anybody can watch,” says James Kollie the films director and writer.

The group is made up of a wide range of talented individuals, from dancers to rappers and they come from different areas in and around Fargo.

One common interest all the people working on the film have is Rap music and it really comes through in the final product.

“Well I took my influences from many hip hop albums and concept albums that have stories to them,” Parker Faris an actor and beat maker for the film says.

Rap inspired music is a big part of the movie.

James and Parker are working on producing 40 original beats for the soundtrack to the film.

And just like the title, the group of teens work together to produce a “collective” beat.

Parker says, “The movie really alludes to our lives and we actually did get a large group of talented kids together to make a movie, but in the movie it’s talented kids coming together to make a music video.”

Their film has been in the works for the past few months and they’re now in the post production phase, adding special effects and the soundtrack.

They hope to have their premiere in early August for the cast and crew but they’re still looking for a venue to host the movie’s official debut.

They plan to enter the film in a number of competitions such as the Fargo Film Festival and Sundance.
