Dodgeball Tournament Helps West Fargo Student Fighting Brain Cancer
A West Fargo seventh grader faces brain cancer, but not without a community lined up to help her.
Dozens of dodgeball teams hit the gym at Cheney Middle School.
The tournament is a fundraiser for Caleigh Jordahl-Damm, a student who is battling a recurrence of brain cancer.
The annual tournament supports a different cause each year.
This year, the choice was obvious.
“It’s very rewarding just to see her smile,” says Cheney Phy Ed teacher Kevin Froeber. “She’s here tonight and she’s watching a lot of dodgeball to help us out with some things. She’s always wants to be a part of things and do what she can to help us out.”
“I was kind of shocked by it,” says Jordahl-Damm. “I knew there was gonna be a dodgeball tournament, but I didn’t know who it was gonna be for.”
The Lend a Hand Foundation is matching funds raised from the tournament, up to $5,000, for Caleigh and her family.
