Hotel Offers Deal While Fargo Police Finalize Memorial Service

Funeral plans for the late Officer Jason Moszer are still being finalized.

Fargo police are hoping to have the details wrapped up and out to the community by Friday.

There are a lot of people involved in this funeral service.

Deputy Chief Joe Anderson of Fargo Police shares what he hopes the public will consider doing in support of Officer Moszer.

“They will go to the end of the Earth for the family and for the department to make sure we are doing things right for him,” says Anderson.

Anderson says that’s how seriously the Fargo Police department is taking the role of making sure Officer Jason Moszer gets the right send off.

Over 100 law enforcement agencies throughout the nation and in Canada have reached out to Fargo Police.

Some are planning to send from one up to 60 officers.

Anderson stresses, “Probably the main thing that I want to get out now is, it’s going to be busy, a lot of people in attendance.”

Anderson recommends people to stream the funeral live and watch the procession along the route.

The initial planned route stretched 31 miles and going through Sabin, but Anderson says the route has changed.

“We don’t want the public to go out, get to their cars and have a traffic jam. We can’t send Jason off with the respect that he deserves,” says Anderson.

As plans for the funeral are still coming together, nearby hotels are stepping up for people coming to town for the service.

“Because of my history in public safety, it was the least I could do. Because I already know they’re hurting and I’m not going to make them pay more,” says General Manager Summer Sandness of My Place Hotel.

Sandness worked as a 911 dispatcher for nearly 13 years and it’s where she first met Officer Moszer.

Sandness reached out to police officers saying that she would offer discount to law enforcement.

She is reducing her rate of $85 to $50 a night.

Sandness expresses, “It’s the right thing to do; I’m not going to take advantage of people because of the circumstances.”

My Place, is the closest hotel to the Scheels Arena and may still have some rooms available for Sunday and Monday.

Other hotels in the area were asked by the Fargo-Moorhead Convention and Visitor’s Bureau to also offer deals.

If you want to see the funeral, watch KVRR at 1pm on Monday.

We will be broadcasting it LIVE on our station.
