Hit Hard Twice: Minnesota Community Devastated by Fire

A major fire destroyed or damaged at least a-half dozen commercial buildings on Main Street in Madelia in southern Minnesota.

The mayor says the fire apparently started with an explosion in one of the businesses about 3 a.m.

He doesn’t know of any injuries.

The brick and wood buildings are on the north side of Main Street and include a furniture store, Culligan Water and a restaurant.

The city of about 2,300 is located about 25 miles southwest of Mankato.

The area is also dealing with the aftermath of a powerful storm that closed highways in southern Minnesota.

A GoFundMe account has been set up to help business owners rebuild.
They are trying to raise $300,000.  You can donate by clicking here.
