UND Police Officer Announces Bid for Grand Forks City Council

A UND police officer is running for a seat on the Grand Forks City Council.

Sergeant Danny Weigel is seeking the Ward One seat being vacated by Terry Bjerke, who is running for mayor.

Weigel grew up in Grand Forks and went to UND and Lake Region State College in Devils Lake.

He says if elected, he wants to focus on improving communication in the community and retaining college students by offering good jobs in Grand Forks.
