MSU President Wants UND’s Position

Minot State University President Steven Shirley wants to take over UND.

Shirley has applied to succeed the retired UND President Robert Kelley.

Shirley is also a former president of Valley City State University.

A presidential search committee last week narrowed the list of candidates from 41 to 15 but decided to continue accepting applications.

A University System spokeswoman says the committee will meet Thursday to decide if any applications submitted before the noon Wednesday cutoff will be considered, including Shirley’s application.
