Minot Hotel Manager Accused of Embezzlement
The former general manager of a Minot hotel has been charged with stealing more than $40,000 over a two year period.
67-year-old James Mello of Minot faces a charge of felony theft of property.
Officials accuse Mello of embezzling money from the Grand Hotel by cashing checks received from ATM commissions and taking a portion of banquet gratuity bonuses meant for the hotel’s wait staff.
A warrant was issued, and Mello turned himself on Tuesday.
He retired last May after 43 years with the Grand Hotel.
