Two Arrested After Moorhead Police Chase

An early morning traffic stop turns into a high speed pursuit and crash.

Brianna Higdem, 19, and 22-year-old Marvin Shelton didn’t stop for Moorhead Police this morning around 1 o’clock.

Instead, they accelerated to almost 70 miles per hour in a short distance.

Within a few blocks, Shelton lost control and crashed into a Red River flood wall and he took off on foot.

An officer managed to catch Shelton, but not without a fight.

“What was concerning was they got out of the vehicle and while the officer was giving chase,” said Moorhead Police Lieutenant Tory Jacobson. “They decided to stop and confront the officer so we’re grateful that he isn’t injured and was able to physically take him into control with the use of his taser,” says Lt. Tory Jacobson with Moorhead Police Dept.

Higdem also ran but was soon found hiding behind the flood wall.

Police say they found a bag of suspected meth nearby.

Shelton is facing multiple charges including DWI, fleeing and drug possession.
