Wild Coyote was spotted near Lewis and Clark Elementary in Fargo
FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) – A wild coyote was spotted near Lewis and Clark Elementary School but wildlife experts say there’s nothing to worry about.
With the days getting shorter we can expect to see more wildlife activity during the hours which are close to sunrise and sunset.
Coyotes do most of their activities during the dark hours and with the sun rising later and setting earlier.
North Dakota Game and Fish Outreach Biologist Doug Leier gave us a great way to think when coming across coyotes in a suburban area.
“When you see and urban coyote to treat them like you would with a stray dog. You are probably more likely to be injured by a stray dog then a coyote but again if you see a wild animal in an urban setting that’s not acting normal then we would advise, not to call game and fish because when you have a health and human safety situation then you want to contact you local police department your local sheriff’s department,” said Leier.
If you do come across any wild coyotes back away slowly and do not interact with them before calling local law enforcement.
