Walz Elected Chair of Democratic Governors Association

Walz Budget 012423

PHOENIX (KVRR) — Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz has been elected chair of the Democratic Governors Association.

In that role, he will have his eye on elections across the country and gain more national exposure.

He was elected to the post during a weekend meeting of Democratic governors in Phoenix.

The mission of the association is to provide party support to the election and re-election of Democratic gubernatorial candidates.

Walz was first elected governor of Minnesota in 2018 and won re-election in 2022.

He says when Democratic governors win, they deliver real results that directly benefit working families.

“I’m thrilled my friend, partner in justice, colleague, and Minnesota’s dedicated leader Governor Tim Walz will be the next Chair of the Dem Govs!” said Lt. Gov. Peggy Flanagan.
