Gov. Dayton Urging Lawmakers to Take Action
Minnesota Gov. Dayton is urging lawmakers to take action after a federal warning about the Real ID Act.
The Department of Homeland Security denied a request for a waiver for implementing REAL ID, a security-enhanced license that will soon be required for air travel and entry into some federal buildings.
Dayton hopes legislators will agree to a special session to get the state in compliance.
He says there’s no need for public alarm about being prevented from traveling in the near term, but says lawmakers must show movement toward adoption before April.
