ND Awarded Grants Up To $160 Million over 10 Years For Ag Tech
FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) — North Dakota has won up to $160 million in federal funding to support innovation, jobs and economic growth in Ag-Tech.
The winning team was led by NDSU and four other partners of the FARMS Engine Coalition.
The grant starts as a two-year award of 15-million dollars from the U.S. National Science Foundation Regional Innovation Engines Program.
The FARMS coalition says the funding will go into programs that will help solve food insecurity and expand economic opportunities.
“I strongly believe that the future of higher education is about working with business and industry as we move forward. And that’s what FARMS is about. It’s about helping to build these authentic, public private partnerships. Having us all work together to enhance our future workforce and economy. I can think for all of those reasons I said earlier that is why this is a great day for North Dakota. And that is why it’s a great day for our region,” said NDSU President David Cook.
The North Dakota Engine was one of 16 selected from 188 submissions across the country.
