Man Who Held Up Mail Carrier Last Summer Pleads Guilty

FARGO (KFGO) – A Fargo man arrested and charged with robbing a mail carrier at gunpoint in Frontier south of Fargo last summer has pleaded guilty to one count of robbery of mail and one count of brandishing a firearm during a crime of violence.
According to court documents, on July 17, 22-year-old Deshaun Holmes pointed a gun at the mail carrier and demanded a key used to open multiple mailboxes in Fargo. When the mail carrier initially handed Holmes a vehicle key, Holmes asked the mail carrier if he wanted to get shot.
The mail carrier then handed Holmes the mail key. Holmes also demanded a tray of mail and fled.
Holmes was arrested several days later after investigators found the key, a gun, a mask, and large amounts of mail not addressed to him while executing a search warrant.
Holmes faces a minimum of seven years and a maximum of 25 years in federal prison.
