North Dakota Hockey Locking In Down the Stretch in Tight Race for the Penrose Cup
UND has just six games left in their regular season
GRAND FORKS, N.D. — North Dakota Hockey returns home this weekend and looks to finish strong as the Fighting Hawks battle for the Penrose Cup. UND has just six regular season games left on their schedule, four of which are on home ice. The Hawks were swept last weekend in Colorado Springs by Colorado College and now hold just a one point lead In the NCHC for first place with St. Cloud State nipping at their heels. North Dakota has put in an intense week of practice as they prepare to host the Duluth Bulldogs this weekend. With the Penrose on the line, they look to overcome their recent adversity by locking in and playing their best hockey when it counts.
“It’s a situation where you got to identify, there has got to be a message and there has got to be communication… we just talked about the net front. That was a message to our guys early on that we have to get better at and if you just say hey, you know what, we got to be better… what does that mean? You have got to give the players a message, a plan so that we can prepare and finely execute it down the stretch. Our guys are all in. They did a really good job at handling that message in team meeting and on the ice right now. Now it’s our job to execute. We have to execute what we planned and what we prepared for, “Said head coach, Brad Berry.
