NORTH DAKOTA, (KVRR/CNN) – The Air Force and Space Force are offering incentive pay for service members stationed in extremely cold areas, which includes North Dakota.
The cold weather assignment incentive pay program is available to airmen and guardians at three locations in Alaska, three in North Dakota, and one in Montana.
The North Dakota sites include the Minot and Grand Forks Air Force Bases and Cavalier Space Force Station.
It’s a one-time lump sum payment meant to offset the cost of things like extreme cold weather gear and snow tires — while also incentivizing assignments.
The first incentive pay date is July 1st.
The amount varies based on location and dependents — and ranges from $1,000 to $4,000.
The Army put a similar program in place in 2020.
