Woman and Dog Killed in House Fire Early This Morning in Gwinner, ND

GWINNER, N.D. (KVRR/KFGO)–  A woman and a dog are dead after a house fire in Gwinner, North Dakota.

Sargent County Sheriff Travis Paeper says the woman called 911 call from the second story of the house, reporting smoke billowing inside around 4 a.m.

She was on the line with dispatch, but they lost contact.

Fire crews were able to locate the woman and she was taken to Lisbon Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

The sheriff says a man on the first floor was able to escape, along with two dogs.

Preliminary reports show it appears to have started in the basement.

The State Fire Marshal is investigating.
