Neighborhood Alerted After Ammonia Leak at Simplot in Grand Forks Friday Night

GRAND FORKS, N.D. (KVRR) — An ammonia leak Friday night at Simplot in Grand Forks shut down a section of Gateway Drive and alerts were sent to people in the area to stay indoors.

The leak was reported around 7:30 Friday night.

Fire crews arrived to find high ammonia levels outside the building which had carried into a nearby residential neighborhood.

They were able to shut down the leak and ventilate the building.

Once the levels had significantly decreased, it was deemed safe to return.

There were no injuries reported.
