Counting down to Opening Day; RedHawks’ Captain glad to be back

FARGO (KVRR) – As we count down to Opening Day for the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks, we will hear from the team as they prepare for the 2024 season. While the RedHawks have many new players on the roster, some of their leaders have returned.

This includes the ‘Captain’ Sam Dexter.

“Feels awesome just to get back into this area. This is my fifth summer here. Fargo’s become like a second home to me. It’s always nice to pull up here and get ready with the guys and it seems like we’ve got a great bunch of guys here. And we’re all excited to get going.” said Dexter.

Manager Chris Coste said it was crucial to bring back Dexter, who had a .271 batting average, with 100 hits and 47 RBIs last year.

“When the season ended last year we knew we were going to lose a few guys here and there. Our biggest goal right away is we got to find a way to bring Sam Dexter back. He had other options. He moved to Florida and he went to Mexico and things like that. So we had to make sure we started with Sam Dexter. After Sam Dexter everything just kind of slowly fell into place.” said Coste.

The RedHawks kick-off their 2024 season on Friday against the Lincoln Saltdogs at 7:02 P.M. out at Newman Outdoor Field for Opening Day.
