Superintendent Brenner To Face Evaluation After Complaint From Grand Forks Principals’ Association

Gf School Board 052024

GRAND FORKS, N.D. (KVRR) — There will be no disciplinary action taken against Grand Forks Superintendent Terry Brenner, but he has been placed under an evaluation.

School Board President Amber Flynn says a personnel complaint was filed against Brenner over the budget realignment process by the Grand Forks Principals’ Association.

He was accused of showing a lack of transparency, communication and collaboration.

After an hour-long special meeting of the school board, members voted unanimously for Flynn’s recommendations following an investigation that found general allegations were confirmed.

They include a 360 degree evaluation of Brenner including of those he supervises.

The district will hire a leadership coach to help rebuild relationships.

There will also be biweekly meetings between Brenner and Grand Forks Principals Association.

“I’m proud of this board and the process in which people felt comfortable coming forward. And I hope we can provide an opportunity to amend and build some bridges and move past this,” said Flynn after the vote.

Brenner was hired as superintendent in June 2018.

He has been with Grand Forks and Grand Forks Air Force Base School Districts for 30 years.
