St. Michael Man Gets Over 30 Years in Prison for Gun Crimes in 2021 and 2022

FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) — A St. Michael, North Dakota man is sentenced in federal court in Fargo to 32 years in prison for his role in numerous crimes.

21-year-old Nathaniel Azure was sentenced for three counts of assault with a dangerous weapon.

He was involved in a shooting in Fort Totten in 2021, an assault while brandishing a firearm in St. Michael on May 21, 2022 and a second shooting in St. Michael the next day.

Azure is the last of four federal defendants to be sentenced for these crimes.

The three others pleaded guilty for their roles and have already been sentenced.

Michael Denne, the 25-year-old brother of Azure, previously pleaded guilty to his role in the January 6, 2021, shooting and has been sentenced. 

Dantae Whitetail, age 21 of Minnewaukan, NDpreviously pleaded guilty for his role in the May 21, 2022, assault while brandishing a firearm, and has been sentenced.

Skyla Cavanaugh, age 23 of St. Michael, ND, previously pleaded guilty to her role in the May 22, 2022, shooting and has been sentenced.
