Roger Maris All-Star Week Begins in Metro

FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) — The 2024 Roger Maris All-Star Week is underway and the whole week will be filled with many events.

It serves as a fundraiser for Sanford Roger Maris Cancer Center as a destination for cancer research, treatment, education and training.

It also honors the life and memory of Roger Maris, a legendary baseball figure from Fargo.

His son shares what it means to carry on his legacy through these camps, clinics and other events.

“It’s a full circle of the things that are happening here. Proud that we’re able to continue doing this and continue to build on dad’s legacy and do some great things for the cancer center,” said Roger Maris Jr.

Events include free youth sports clinics, a RedHawks game tomorrow at Newman Outdoor Field and Roger Maris Celebrity Golf Tournament on Thursday with big names like Cris Carter and Cordell Volson at Rose Creek Golf Course.
